Petrol pump owners' strike suspended

Petrol pump owners and workers on Monday suspended their strike until 15 December after a meeting with Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).

The meeting was held with the high officials of BPC in the capital's Segunbagicha.

Sajjadur Karim Kabul, president of a faction of Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners’ Association, announced the decision from the meeting.

He said that next decision will be taken on 15 December after an inter-ministerial meeting in this regard.

The leaders of Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners’ Association, Tank Lorry Malik Sramik Oikya Parishad, Petrol Pump Dealer Distributor Owners’ Association went on an indefinite strike on Saturday.

The associations on 26 November gave until 30 November to fulfil their 15 demands that include payment of 7.5 per cent sales commission, introduction of accident insurance of Tk 500,000 for tank lorry workers, and an end to police harassment.
