Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Qauder on Thursday said there will be a befitting reply if BNP tries to create any anarchy in the country over the verdict in the case against its chairperson Khaleda Zia, according to UNB.

He came up with the warning while talking to reporters after paying tributes to Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy by placing a wreath, on behalf of AL, at his grave near the High Court marking his death anniversary.

The judicial activities at the Appellate Division remained halted for three hours on Thursday morning amid chaos by pro-BNP lawyers demanding that hearing on the bail petition of the BNP chief in Zia Charitable Trust graft case be held on Thursday.

The pro-BNP lawyers started demonstrations when the Appellate Division deferred the hearing until 12 December as the medical team failed to submit its report on Khaleda’s health.

Protesting at the deferment of the hearing, some 200 pro-BNP lawyers entered the courtroom around 10:30am and created a chaotic situation, forcing judges of the six-member Appellate Division bench to leave the courtroom ahead of the regular break.

Meanwhile, speaking at the triennial conference of Sylhet district and city Awami League at Alia Madrasa field in Sylhet city, Quader said the party’s dedicated leaders, development and Sheikh Hasina must be saved to save Awami League.

He also said Awami League has to be saved to protect the country, Liberation War and democracy.

Quader said the ruling party is being overhauled to implement the Vision 2021.
