Two busses catch fire in city

Two passenger buses, including a double-decker BRTC bus, caught fire in the city's Karwan Bazar and Kurmitola areas on Saturday, reports UNB.
Sources at the control room of Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) headquarters said a passenger bus of Trust Transport Service Limited caught fire at around 3:15pm at Karwan Bazar.

A fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and doused the flame at around 3:35 pm, said duty officer of the FSCD control room Rima Khan.

Officer-in-charge of Tejgaon police station Shahriar Rashid said the bus engine caught fire due to technical fault.

Meanwhile, a double-decker passenger bus of BRTC caught fire near Kurmitola General Hospital around 3:50pm.

Members of a fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and doused the flame at around 4:22 pm, said Rima Khan of FSCD control room adding that the cause of the bus fire could not be ascertained immediately.

Kazi Shahan Hoque, officer-in-Charge of Cantonment police station, said the bus caught fire due to mechanical fault.

However, no casualty was reported in the fire incidents.
