Govt confirms 133 deaths in dengue since January

The government on Monday confirmed that 133 people died of mosquito-borne disease Dengue since the beginning of the year, reports UNB.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research has received 264 reports of dengue-related deaths. It has reviewed 211 of them and confirmed 133 deaths.

Meanwhile sixty seven new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours till 8am on Monday.

Thirty-seven of them were hospitalised in Dhaka, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a regular update.

A total of 100,742 people were hospitalised with dengue during the period.

Among those who were hospitalised, 100,177 made full recovery and went home, the DGHS said.

Currently, 301 dengue patients, including 192 in the capital, are being treated at different hospitals.
