A defamation case has been filed against Vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haque Nur, reports UNB.

Mujahid Kamal Uddin, vice-president of Salimullah Muslim Hall Students' Union of DU, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziaur Rahman on Tuesday morning.

After hearing the statement of the plaintiff, the court asked Shahbagh police station to investigate the complaint and submit a report to this end.

According to the case statement, Nur has engaged in different negative activities like tender business, extortion and illegal lobbying by misusing the post of DUCSU VP.

His illegal activities have tarnished the image of Dhaka University and he has stigmatised the VP post, it said.

An audio clip of a conversation between the DUCSU VP and an expatriate Bangladeshi was leaked on 3 December.

In the audio clip, the expatriate was heard requesting Nur to send his bank account number along with an email address.

DUCSU general secretary Golam Rabbani at a press conference on 6 December demanded VP Nur's resignation.
