HC summons UNO, OC for issuing threat to writ petitioner

The High Court on Tuesday summoned the upazila executive officer and officer-in-charge of Sakhipur in Tangail to explain their alleged threat issued to a writ petitioner, reports news agency UNB.

An HC bench comprising justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order after hearing a petition filed over the lease of a state-owned pond.

Topu Gopal Ghosh who stood for the petitioner said the pond was awarded to the second highest bidder. Later, the highest bidder filed the writ petition.

The UNO and the OC allegedly threatened the writ petitioner for filing the writ and refused to give information in this regard.

The court also issued a status quo on the lease of the pond.
