Sir Fazle Hasan Abed no more

Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, founder and chair emeritus of BRAC, has passed away.

While undergoing treatment, Fazle Hasan Abed breathed his last at 8:28pm on Friday evening in the capital's Apollo Hospitals, according to BRAC authorities.

He was 83.

The founder of the world's largest NGO (non-government organisation) will be buried on 22 December.

"Fazle's body will be kept at the Army Stadium in the capital on 22 December for people of all walks of life to pay their last respects to him. His namaj-e-janaza will also be held there at 12:30pm," said Asif Saleh, executive director of BRAC.

He will be laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard, he added.
