Govt confirms 141 deaths from dengue so far

The government on Monday confirmed that 141 people died of mosquito-borne disease Dengue since the beginning of the year, reports news agency UNB.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has received 266 reports of dengue-related deaths. It has reviewed 223 of them and confirmed 141 deaths so far.

Meanwhile, sixteen new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours until 8:00am on Saturday.

Nine of them were hospitalised in Dhaka, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a regular update.

A total of 101,190 people were hospitalised with dengue in the country since January.

Among those who were hospitalised, 100,762 made full recovery, the DGHS said.

Currently, 162 patients, including 109 in the capital, are undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
