Man detained with 150 turtles

Police have seized around 150 turtles from a bus in Monohar Bazar area in Shariatpur, reports UNB.

A team of police conducted a drive on a Dhaka-bound DS Paribahan bus on Saturday and seized around 150 tortoises, sources at the upazila administration were quoted to say

Police then detained the supervisor of the bus, Selim Hossain, and produced him before mobile court. The court, led by upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) M Mahabur Rahman Sheikh, fined Selim over the illegal possession of tortoises.

The turtles were released in the Kirtinasha river later, the UNO told UNB.
