Biswa Ijtema's first phase begins 10 Jan

The first phase of Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims after Hajj, will be held on 10-12 January at Ijtema ground in Tongi, reports UNB.

SM Tariqul Islam, deputy commissioner of Gazipur district, told UNB that adequate security measures have been taken in and around the Ijtema ground for ensuring security of the devotees.

Besides, the second phase of Ijtema will be held from 17-19 January.

Tabligh Jamaat has been organising the Ijtema at the venue since 1967.

Tabligh Jamaat authorities in 2011 split the Ijtema into two phases, dividing the participation of the people of 64 districts, to reduce pressure at the venue and ensure better management and security.
