Dhaka Medical College Hospital physicians have found evidence of rape on the female student of Dhaka University, who is now undergoing treatment at its One-stop Crisis Centre.

"The victim is not doing well. She had respiratory-related problems. Alongside, she was assaulted while she was being raped," said one of the physicians.

The DMCH authorities on Monday formed a six-member medical board led by Salma Rauf, a professor of DMCH Gynecology department.

The victim, a residential student of DU, was raped after she got down from a university bus in the capital's Kurmitola on Sunday evening while going to her friend's residence in Shewra.

The DU student's uncle told Prothom Alo that they do not yet know where she was raped. She dropped in Kurmitola instead of Shewra mistakenly, he added.

He suspected that his niece could have been raped somewhere in Kurmitola General Hospital.

The victim's uncle also said that she is related with cultural activities but not with any political parties.

A responsible person of a DU organisation talked to her.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, the person said the student had gotten on a university bus to reach her friend’s house in Kurmitola for taking preparation of examinations.

Several unidentified persons gaged her soon after she got down from the bus in Kurmitola around 5:30pm, he added.

At this, the victim lost her consciousness and then she was raped, the person continued.

The victim regained her consciousness around 10:00pm. She reached to her friend’s house in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and shared her ordeals to her.

Her classmates brought her to the campus and admitted her to the hospital.

A number of teachers including DU proctor AKM Golam Rabbani visited the victim at the hospital and talked to her.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, Cantonment police station officer-in-charge Kazi Shahan said they had come to know about the incident.

Police officials talked to the victim and they were preparing for filing a case in the regard, the OC added.
