Charge sheet against ex-Jubo League leader Khalid accepted

A Dhaka court on Wednesday accepted a charge sheet against expelled organising secretary of Dhaka south unit Jubo League Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan in a case filed under the Arms Act, reports news agency UNB.

KM Imrul Kayes, judge of Dhaka metropolitan sessions judges court took the charges into cognisance.

The accused has been also facing a case filed under the Anti-Money Laundering Act and two other cases under the Narcotics Control Act.

Belayet Hossain, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) submitted the charge sheet in the case in October last year.

Khalid, also president of Fakirerpool Youngmen’s Club, was arrested from Gulshan on 18 September 2019, by RAB for running an illegal casino in the club.

Three firearms – one of them illegal – along with bullets, and yaba pills were seized from him.

The arrest came after a RAB mobile court detained 142 people from the casino and seized Tk 2.4 million in cash, foreign liquor and casino boards.
