Bogura-1 MP Abdul Mannan passes away

Ruling Awami League MP of Bogura -1 constituency Abdul Mannan died at a hospital in the capital early Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest, reports news agency UNB.

He was 66.

Motiur Rahman Moti, joint general secretary of Sariakandi upazila unit Awami League, said Mannan, also party’s former joint secretary, suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday afternoon at Jatiya Sangsad when he went there to join the ongoing session.

Mannan was admitted to Labaid Hospital and was kept on life support.

He breathed his last around 8:15am, Moti said.

President Abdul Hamid and prime minister Sheikh Hasina mourned the death of Awami League leader Abdul Mannan, MP.

In a condolence message, the president expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Mannan. The head of the state prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

In her condolence message, the prime minister recalled with profound respect the contributions of Abdul Mannan, a former president of Bangladesh Chhatra League, to different democratic movements.

“Bangladesh Awami League has lost an efficient organiser and sincere worker in the death of a politician like him,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Mannan was the former President of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). He was also the organising secretary of the ruling party.
