Members of Bangladesh Navy have detained 26 Indian fishermen and seized two fishing boats from the Fairway Buoy area of the Bay of Bengal on allegation of fishing illegally inside the Bangladesh water territory, reports news agency UNB.

Navy members detained the fishermen on Thursday afternoon during their regular patrolling, said Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Mongla police station.

“They were netting fish 90 nautical miles off the Mongla Port,” he said, adding that the detained were handed over to police on Saturday and two cases were filed against them.
