Siblings among 3 construction workers electrocuted

Three construction workers, including two siblings, were died and two others sustained injuries after being electrocuted on the banks of the Buriganga river in Hazaribagh area in the capital on Wednesday morning, reports UNB.

The deceased were identified as Jhoru Sheikh, 45, his brother Saiful Sheikh, 35, and Monjurul Islam, 35.

Ekram Ali, officer-in-charge of Hazaribagh police station, said the incident took place around 11:00am when workers were carrying out piling work for the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) boundary pillar on the bank of the river.

The three men were killed on the spot and two others were critically injured, he added.

The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
