Student killed by lorry, protesters block road

The students of Wari High School blocked the road in protest of a fellow student being hit and killed by a WASA lorry near Baldha Garden in the capital on Monday.


The deceased, Abeer, was a SSC examinee this year. Traffic came to a halt on the Wari road as students took to the street right after the incident. A number of policemen have been deployed on the spot.


The accident took place at around 12:45pm on Monday, confirmed the assistant commissioner Wari traffic zone Tariqul Islam. Police have arrested the lorry driver.

According to police and locals, the lorry hit Abeer while it was entered the main road after filling up with water from the WASA water pump near Baldha Garden.
The victim was rushed to the hospital immediately where the doctors pronounced him dead.
