A Chapainawabganj court on Tuesday sentenced a member of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to 10 years’ imprisonment in a case filed under the Arms Act, reports UNB.

Judge of the Special Tribunal Court-3 Md Erfan Ullah handed down the verdict. The court also fined the convict Tk 5000, in default, he will have to serve three more months in jail.

The convict was identified as Towhidul Islam, 35, from Namodhobra Honyashi village in Shibganj upazila of the district.

The prosecution said, Detective Branch of police arrested Towhid along with a pistol and four bullets from Dhobra Bazar area on 6 September 2017.

A case was filed with Shibganj police station in this regard on 30 September.
