The supporter of one of BNP’s Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) ward councillor candidates was stabbed allegedly by those loyal to a ruling Awami League candidate in the city’s Islambagh on Friday.

The injured is Nazir Hossain Mollah, 50, a supporter of BNP’s ward 29 councillor candidate Hazi Mohammad Shahidul Islam.

Haider Ali, who along with several others rushed Nazir to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, told UNB that the incident took place at Namapara around 7:00pm.

“The supporters of Awami League councillor candidate Jahangir Alam Babul, led by his cousin Rubel, attacked Nazir and stabbed him indiscriminately,” he said.

Nazir sustained multiple stab wounds in the head, back and abdomen, Haider said.

Dhaka’s two city corporations are scheduled to go to polls on Saturday.
