Eighth grader ‘gang-raped’ in Jashore

An eighth grader has allegedly been raped by three miscreants in Keshabpur upazila of Jashore, reports UNB.

A lawsuit was filed on Wednesday over the incident that took place on Monday.

Police, however, could not arrest any of the accused –- Rubel, 25, Hasan, 24, and Khaleque, 22, as of Thursday night.

Akram Hossain, sub-inspector of Keshabpur police station and also the investigation officer of the case, said the three barge in the victim’s house on Monday night and raped her in turns.

Hearing the victim screaming, locals rushed and caught the trio red-handed but they were released later following pressure from the local influential, he said.

The medical test of the victim was completed at Jashore General Hospital, the SI added.

Officer-in-charge of Keshabpur police station Abu Sayeed said they could not arrest the three accused as they went into hiding. “But we’re trying to arrest them,” he added.
