Housewife ‘beaten dead by DB’ in Gazipur

A housewife was allegedly beaten to death by Detective Branch of police at its Gazipur office on Tuesday evening, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Yesmin, wife of Abdul Hai of the area.

Victim's relatives said DB police of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) came to arrest Yesmin's husband but did not find him. They instead detained the housewife and her child. 

There were signs of torture on the woman's body, the relatives said.

Police rejected the allegation and said the woman was arrested with yaba.

Md Manjur Rahman, deputy commissioner of GMP (DB) said police arrested her with 100 pieces of yaba pills and she felt sick at DB office.

Later, she was taken to the hospital where physicians pronounced her dead. The allegation of beating her to death is false, the official claimed.

The body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
