Garments employee killed in city

A garments employee was reportedly stabbed to death due to previous enmity at Gubindapur area of Shonir Akhra in the city on Tuesday, reports UNB.

Soon after the incident police have arrested the suspected killer.

The victim was identified as Imon, 18, son of Abu Bakker, hailed from village Noyabari under Sirajgonj upazila in Munshigonj district. He had been residing at a rented tin-shed house near Gubindapur Japani Bazar.

Imon was working as an operator of Grameen garments of Sonirakhra. His father is also an operator of the garments factory.

Victim's father Abu Bakkar said that local youths, aged around 16-17 years, identified as Nayun, Raju, Rubel and Anik swooped on his son near Gubindapur government school while he along with Imon was going to their house to have launch at around 2:00 pm.

"At one stage, Raju, Rubel and Anik caught me, while Nayun stabbed my son in his chest", said Abu Bakkar.

Imon was first rushed to a local hospital. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty physician declared him dead at around 3:00 pm.

Abu Bakkar, the father of the deceased, said that Imon had an altercation with Nayun when Nayun knocked down Imon with a bicycle two days back. As a sequel to the incident, Nayun killed Imon by stabbing, he added.

Zia, one of the friend of the victim, said Nayan was slightly injured when he pulled out a knife from his pocket and scuffled.

Sub inspector Shariful Islam of Jatrabari police station said, they arrested a youth named Nayun in connection with the stabbing. Nayun was also injured during the incident. He was given first aid, he said.
