Three killed in city fire

Three people were killed and eight others suffered burns in a fire that broke out at a multi-story building at Dilu Road in city's Moghbazar area early Thursday, reports UNB.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Ershad Hossain, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense control room, said the fire broke out at the garage, located on the ground floor of a five-story building around 4:32am.

On information, eight firefighting units went to the spot and extinguished the fire around 5:30am.

Foysalur Rahman, senior station officer of Tejgaon Fire Station, said firefighters rescued 17 people. Three others were found dead.

Eight people were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The cause of the fire is still unclear.
