Nur Hossain seeks cancellation of N’ganj 7-murder cases

Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the sensational Narayanganj 7-murder cases, on Sunday filed a petition with the High Court seeking the quashing of two cases filed in connection with Narayanganj seven murders.

Lutfur Rahman, a counsel for Nur Hossain, on behalf of his client submitted the petition with the HC bench concerned on Sunday, reports news agency UNB.


The petition will be moved to the HC bench comprising Justice Farid Ahmed and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque next week, he said.
On 27 April 2014, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted by miscreants from Fatullah area of Narayanganj.


At the same time, senior lawyer at district Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.
Three days after their abduction, the bodies of six people, including those of Nazrul and Chandan Kumar, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on 30 April the same year. The following day, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was also recovered from the river.


Nur Hossian, a Narayanganj city Awami League leader and also a councillor, and his associates went into hiding following the abduction and killing of the seven people.


Shahidul Islam alias Shahid chairman, father-in-law of slain Nazrul Islam, alleged that some officials of elite force Rab killed Nazrul Islam in exchange for Tk 6 crore from city councillor Nur Hossain.


He was shown arrested in 11 cases, including the two cases filed over the seven-murder.


Nur Hossain and two other accused in the case-Khan Sumon and Wahiduzzaman-were arrested from an apartment in Kolkata on 14 June 2014.


He was brought back home from India on 12 November 2015.
