The education ministry has not yet taken any decision to shut educational institutions due to global outbreak of coronavirus, reports UNB.

"If there's any decision, everyone will be informed," said an official release signed by Mohammad Abul Khair, public relations officer of the ministry.

He also urged all not to get confused over it.

Earlier, health minister Zahid Maleque on Sunday said the education ministry will decide whether the educational institutions will be closed as it is not the health ministry's jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the death toll from coronavirus or COVID-19 reached 5,846 globally today.

Besides, 158,372cases were reported from around the world, according to worldometer.

Bangladesh reported two new coronavirus cases on Saturday.

The government has suspended on-arrival visas for all countries and stopped allowing passengers from Europe until 31 March to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.
