Over 10,000 policemen recover from virus infection, 53 die

Altogether 10,076 out of 13,316 novel coronavirus infected members of Bangladesh Police made full recovery from the disease across the country until Friday morning, reports news agency UNB.

“Among the total infected, 2,489 policemen were attached with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) alone till the date,” said sources at the police headquarters.

Most of the recovered policemen have already joined their respective duty stations, the sources added.

The sources also informed that 53 of the policemen died of COVID-19 in Bangladesh as of Friday.

Meanwhile, 13,089 policemen were sent in quarantine while 4,532 have been undergoing treatment in isolation.

Bangladesh on Friday announced the finding of 3,034 new coronavirus cases and 51 deaths, a sudden surge in deaths than that was being reported for the last few days.

The health officials have so far reported 199,357 COVID-19 cases and 2,547 deaths from it.
