Foreign minister AK Abdul Momen on Tuesday said Bangladeshi migrants are unable to renew their passports at foreign missions due to printing difficulties.

He also said the home ministry has taken effective measures to fix the problem.

The minister came up with this remark following an event at the foreign service academy marking the national mourning day.

When asked about the closure of passport reissuance at foreign missions, he said, “We actually don’t issue passports. It is a matter of the passport office and the home ministry. They have informed us that steps have been taken to resolve the problem.”

Abdul Momen said they are discussing with the authorities concerned for a long time to fix the issue.

"We are aware that many Bangladeshi migrants abroad are not getting their passports in time due to printing problems," the minister added.
