Physicians of another Dhaka hospital in self-quarantine

Physicians of another hospital in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka on Tuesday went into self-quarantine after a patient had been posthumously tested coronavirus positive.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, one of the directors of the hospital said the patient was admitted there with fever, cough and respiratory complications on 26 February.

He was later shifted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) following deterioration of his health condition. But he died there on 22 March.

The hospital authorities, however, could not say whether the patient came to the hospital with the disease or contracted it there.

The hospital’s director said they sent the specimen on Monday night and received the test results this morning. Upon receiving the results, the physicians who attended the patient went on self-quarantine.

Earlier, several physicians and nurses at city’s Delta Hospital went on self-quarantine following the death of a novel coronavirus patient.

Besides, one of the physicians who treated the patient at Delta Hospital has contracted the disease. He has been undergoing treatment at Kuwait Bangladesh Government Friendship Hospital from Sunday night.
