BNP’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday held the government’s ‘inaction’ responsible for the ‘horrific’ Covid-19 situation in country's border districts, reports UNB.

"Experts had repeatedly warned that coronavirus will spiral out of control in border areas. We also raised our voice about it. But proper steps have not been taken to prevent it," he said.

Fakhrul made the remarks at a press conference at BNP chairperson's Gulshan office. He said there is no ICU bed and necessary oxygen support in Thakurgaon district hospital.

"Patients are gasping for air at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). These are happening in India and West Bengal. We are witnessing the same situation here, but no effective step is taken yet to protect people," the BNP leader said.
