The operation of public transport will remain suspended until April 11 aiming to prevent the spread of coronavirus, UNB quoted the roads and highways division to say on Saturday.

Emergency services, fuel, medicine, vehicles carrying perishable goods and relief materials will remain out of the purview of the restriction.

No goods-laden transport will be allowed to carry passengers.

Earlier, the government had suspended bus, train and launch services until 4 April.

Meanwhile, two more people died from coronavirus in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to eight, according to the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).

Besides, nine other people were diagnosed with COVID-19 during the period, taking the number of such cases in the country to 70, said IEDCR director Meerjady Sabrina at an online briefing.
