RAB seizes 1.5kg heroin

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has recovered one and a half kilograms of heroin worth from Savar and Ashulia in Dhaka and arrested two persons, including a woman.

A team of RAB-2, led by Muhammad Mohiuddin Farooqui, superintendent of police (SP) of the battalion, carried out drive in Savar and Ashulia in the afternoon and arrested Soibur Rahman, 32, and Nazma Akhter, 28.

They have been living together introducing themselves as husband and wife at a rented house in Savar.

Soibur works as a mason and Nazma at a garment factory. RAB said they have been involved in the drug trading for a long time.

They have been smuggling heroin in the guise of sending baby foods and daily necessities through courier service for a long time, said SP Mohiuddin Farooqui.

A case was filed against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act, he said.
