Reports on food bills false, baseless: DMCH

Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) authorities said reports on food bills run by different media outlets for physicians, nurses and other employees of the hospital , who were engaged in the treatment of COVID-19 patients, are false, baseless and fabricated, reports BSS.

“News published in different media outlets for expenditures on food for physicians, nurses and employees, who provided healthcare services for coronavirus patients are false and baseless,” DMCH director brig gen AKM Nasir Uddin told a press conference at the hospital here.

The DMCH director said, ” The total expenditure for food per person is Tk 500. The report of Tk 200 million on food bills is false. We estimated that the total expenditure for foods and accommodations for physicians, nurses and other employees might be 260 million. ”

Explaining costs of two months for medical professionals and other staff, he said, Tk 11,86,31,250 , excluding vat, has been spent for 2276 health workers for one month on accommodations and foods at designated hospitals while the total cost including vats has stood at Tk 13,64,25,937.

The hospital authorities sent a letter to the health and family welfare hospital seeking allocation of Tk 200 million for two months as expenditures of food and accommodations for medical professionals and others employees.

Subsequently, Taka 200 million was allocated in this regard.
