Truck workers-owners federation leaders have said the ongoing strike would go on until the diesel price is reduced or transport fare is adjusted with the increased fuel price.

The leaders said this after meeting home minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday afternoon.

The association’s secretary general Abdul Motaleb told journalists that the strike would continue as long as their demands are not met.

Either the increased fuel price has to be withdrawn or the transport fare has to be adjusted. Otherwise, the transport workers would continue the ongoing strike, Motaleb said.

The bus, truck and van owners decided to go on a strike from Friday in protest against the fuel price hike in Bangladesh.

On Wednesday, the government raised the prices of diesel and kerosene to Tk 80 from Tk 65 at the retail level.
