'Vaccinating pregnant, lactating mothers recommended'

The National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) on Monday recommended that the pregnant as well as lactating mothers get Covid-19 vaccine shots.

NITAG–an independent committee comprised of experts on public health and related disciplines–provides necessary suggestions to the government, particularly the health ministry.

Public health expert Be-Nazir Ahmed, a member of NITAG, confirmed the matter to Prothom Alo.

He said that Obstetrical and Gynecological Society of Bangladesh–an organisation of gynecologists in Bangladesh–also recommended for vaccination of the pregnant and lactating mothers.

Now the government will decide about the further process, he said.
