Bangladesh ambassador to Japan Rabab Fatima on Tuesday urged the investors and businesspersons of Nagoya, Japan's fourth largest city and the automobile hub of the country, to invest in Bangladesh.

She made the request while addressing a seminar held at Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighting the investment and business opportunities in Bangladesh.

Around eighty business representatives of Nagoya attended the seminar organised by the Bangladesh embassy in Tokyo with a view to informing the entrepreneurs of Nagoya about the business-friendly environment prevailing in Bangladesh in collaboration with Nagoya City Office, Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and Japan-Bangladesh Committee for Commercial and Economic Co-operation (JBCCEC) of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry supported the event.

Mayor of Nagoya City Takashi Kawamura welcomed the participants and guests at the seminar, said the Bangladesh embassy in Tokyo.

Ambassador Fatima highlighted the socio-economic development of Bangladesh highlighting the transformation in every sector in the past one decade.

She elaborated the key factors of industrial development of Bangladesh and the strategies to attain the "Vision-2021" to be a middle-income country and "Vision-2041" to be a developed country declared by the government.

The Ambassador also mentioned the participation and contribution of women in the development of Bangladesh.

Citing the excellent bilateral relation between Japan and Bangladesh, she thanked Japan for its support to Bangladesh's development efforts.

The honorary consul of Bangladesh in Nagoya Hisakazu Mizutani also spoke at the event while representative of JICA Masumi Okamoto explained the current trend of Bangladesh economy and JICA's project in Bangladesh.

Representative of JETRO, Dhaka Taiki Koga made a presentation at the seminar describing the opportunities, facilities, and challenges of doing business and investing in Bangladesh.

Tsutomu Hashimoto of Sumitomo Corporation shared their experiences of operating business in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, senior vice president of Bangladesh Honda Pvt Ltd (BHL), Kazuya Hashi talked about BHL's operation and expansion process in Bangladesh.

A short video documentary on the economic advancement of Bangladesh was also screened during the program.

This was the fifth development and investment seminar organised by the Bangladesh embassy in recent months, which have reached out to a large cross section of the Japanese society, including businesses.
