Bank transaction hours extended to 3:00pm until 6 June

Banks transaction hours have been extended further by half an hour as they will now operate from 10:00am to 3:00pm from 31 May to 6 June, reports UNB.

Bangladesh Bank issued a circular on Sunday for all banks in compliance with the cabinet division's latest directives on the countrywide restrictions. The banks will have to keep their offices opened until 4:30pm to complete their necessary activities, said the BB circular.

Currently, banks have been operating transactions from 10 :00am to 2:30pm while in the normal situation they operate from 10:00pm to 4:00pm.

The BB circular said all other instructions will remain unchanged as per the circular of 13 April.

During the banking transaction hours, banks have to ensure different kinds of services including clearing of cheques, withdrawal and deposits of money, money transfer, the release of remittance, encashment of different instruments and receipt of the payments of bills of different utilities, the circular added.

BB said amid the lockdown, banks will have to continue their services like disbursement of loans, incentives, payment of salaries of different industries, the purchase of export bills and loan sanction and distribution.
