Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

Stocks on Wednesday witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities, reports BSS.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 30.37 points up at 6,868.17. The blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 18.04 points down at 2,586.46 and the Shariah DSES closed the day with 5.64 point down at 1,462.31.

At DSE, out of the day’s 377 securities, prices of 159 securities closed higher against 158 losing issues.

The day’s trade value at the DSE decreased to Tk 8,074.02 million from Tuesday’s Tk 10,807.99 million and the daily trade also fell to 184.3 million shares from 288.1 million of the previous session.

The major gaining issues were KBPPWBIL, AMCL (PRAN), Metro Spinning, LIBRAINFU and Renwick JA while the major losing companies were KTL, FAREST Life, ISNLTD, Aziz Pipes and USMANIAGL.

Beximco topped the turnover list followed by Fortune, One Bank, GENEXIL and Sonali Paper.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 90.36 points down at 20,075.09.

At the CSE, 257 issues were traded. Of those, 106 closed higher and 124 closed lower when 85.90 lakh shares worth Tk 34.02 crore changed hands.
