Citibank has introduced what it called as innovative payment solutions in its airline banking process as the air transport expenses are on the rise nowadays.

The bank has recently arranged a meeting with representatives from International Air Transport Association (IATA), executives from leading airlines, experts from Bangladesh aviation industry and officials of Bangladesh Bank to discuss contemporary airline banking processes.

It was an airline treasury forum titled “Bangladesh Airline Treasury Forum, Breakthrough to Excellence” held in Dhaka, according to a press release issued on Monday.

“As the leading global bank in Bangladesh, Citi is committed to bringing its range of innovative payment solutions that will enable the aviation industry to grow efficiently,” said N Rajashekaran, managing director and country officer of Citibank in Bangladesh.

Apart from focussing on a range of solutions in its presentation, the forum also discussed overall airline industry situation and regulators.

Citi is providing innovative payment and collection solutions for its airlines clients, said the release.

It is playing a key role in aircraft financing markets with its spectrum of financing solutions, it added.

Vincent Couche, Citi’s Asia pacific sector head for Industrials, said as the price of jet fuel and payroll costs is increasing, airlines have a strategic imperative to maximise the benefits of digitisation.

"Citi is ready to support every partner airline organisation in this challenge,” he added.
