Chandpur transgenders receive vocational training

A 50-day training programme on 'Sewing and Beautification Trade' for transgender people started on Tuesday aiming to give them a chance to become self-reliant at the Samaj Sheba office in Chandpur, reports UNB.

A total of 50 transgender people are participating in the training where experts on sewing and beautification were imparting the lessons, said officials at Samaj Sheba office.

Deputy director Rajat Shuvra Sarker of district Samaj Sheba office chaired the programme where additional district magistrate Abdullah Al Mahmud Zaman was chief guest.

Civil surgeon Md Syeduzzaman and Chandpur press club president Iqbal Patwary were there as special guests in the first session.

In the second session, acting deputy commissioner, Shaokat Osman was the chief guest while social worker and Awami League general secretary of district unit Abu Nayeem Patwary Dulal was present as special guests.
