Bashundhara Group, one of the leading conglomerates of Bangladesh, launched pitch bitumen plant for road carpeting in its business point at Pangaon area in Keraniganj upazila, Dhaka on Saturday.

Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal inaugurated the plant as the chief guest, reports news agency UNB.

He said Bashundhara Group has produced pitch for road carpeting for the first time in the country. From now on, Bangladesh has no need to import pitch for road carpeting, rather it can export.

The minister congratulated the group for its success.

Bangladesh has secured a good position in terms of export in Asia thanks to the support provided by prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Kamal said, noting that it helps industries grow and generate employment.

Finance minister Kamal also said he will urge the prime minister to make the Buriganga bridge toll free.

State minister for power, energy and mineral resources Nasrul Hamid, Bashundra Group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, Keraniganj upazila chairman Shahin Ahmed, among others, were present on the occasion.
