Sales spree prompt downtrend at DSE, CSE

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw downward trend in early hours of trading on Sunday as cautious investors were on selling spree.

DSEX, the benchmark index of DSE, shed over 15.39 points or 0.24 percent to 6,287 at 12:06 pm.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 3.04 points or 0.21 percent to stand at 1,404.55.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also declined 5.75 points or 0.25 percent to stand at 2,289 points.

Trade deals stood at 37,830 with volume of transactions at Tk 1,674 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 114 advanced, 150 declined and 51 remained unchanged.

United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 130.49 million changing hands till then followed by IFAD Autos, Western Marine Shipyard and Lafarge Surma Cement.

The port city bourse - Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - also witnessed downward trend in early hours with its Selective Category Index losing 27.44 points to 11,755 also at 12:07 pm.

Of the issues traded till then, 57 gained, 73 declined and 30 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 80.86 million.
