Power and energy week to be observed

Power and Energy week is going to be observed from 6 to 8 September across the country, reports UNB.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the programme at a function at International Convention City, Bashundhara in the city on 6 September, said the officials at the power and energy ministry.

In the inaugural function, officials of different public entities will be awarded for their best performances while journalists will also be given award for their best reporting.

A three-day power and energy fair will also be held in the same venue as part of the programme of the week observation.

Focusing the government success in the power sector will be main objective of the week while creation of mass awareness in economic use of electricity will be another motto of the three days programme, said a top official of the Power Ministry.

The government has been observing such power and energy week in every September for the last few years as part of its development campaign.

According to official sources in power and energy ministry, this year more than 100 public and private entities in the power and energy sector will participate in the fair to showcase their product and services.

They will have interaction with the consumers and stakeholders in the fair as well, they said.

They informed that a number of seminars will be organised by Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) while Power Cell has been coordinating the holding of the fair.

Officials said different entities will hold various programmes at district and divisional levels as well.
