First ever online housing fair begins in Bangladesh

The first ever online housing fair of the country was inaugurated on Tuesday to give the customers a chance to avail all information on residential and commercial flats and plots at different locations in the country.

BERGER Abashon Mela, organised by Prothom Alo, will continue from 23 to 30 January.

The visitors can participate the fair from anywhere in the world by clicking service.prothomalo.com/abashonmela.

They can also seek information through live chatting with companies between 10:00am and 10:00pm during the fair, being held with the slogan “Ghore Bosei Ghor Khujun” (Search home staying at home).

As many as 45 real estate companies are taking part in the fair. The visitors can choose their property at 42 locations in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Barishal, Cumilla and Bogura.

A total of 7,000 flats, 350,000 katha of land and 1.5 million square feet of commercial space would be up for sale in the fair.

The fair was inaugurated on Tuesday evening at Pan-Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital city.

The programme was started through screening of a documentary movie on various activities of Prothom Alo.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman said, “There were stagnation in real estate sector of the country in recent years but the business is gaining momentum again.”

The fair would give the customers a good platform to choose their desired property, he hoped.

“This year a total of 45 companies are participating in the fair. I hope the number will increase in the coming years,” Matiur Rahman added.

Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, head of project, prolinks, decor at BERGER Bangladesh, said that the online housing fair would usher a new era in housing business of the country.

He put emphasis on keeping up the commitment made to the customers to win their heart.

Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) vice president Liakat Ali Bhuiyan said BERGER-Prothom Alo fair will give the customers a good chance to gather information of the property ahead of REHAB fair due on 6 February.

BERGER is the title sponsor while REHAB is a strategic partner of the fair.

Marine Group, Orion Gas, Rancon real estate division, Meilleur Décor, Concord and IDLC are co-sponsoring the fair.

Nagorik television and ABC RADIO are media partners of the fair.

REHAB director Shakil Kamal Chowdhury, vice president Kamal Mahmud, Marine Group managing director NE Khoda and Rancon real estate divisional director Mashid Rahman, Olympia Holdings’ Md Jamil Uddin, Prothom Alo’s digital business manager Javed Sultan, among others, spoke at the programme.
