The prime minister said this while briefing the media about the national budget unveiled on Thursday for the 2019-2020 fiscal.

To achieve the double digit GDP by FY 2023-24, the GDP growth rate in the proposed budget has been projected to be 8.2 per cent for FY 2019-20.

The prime minister is briefing the post-budget press conference at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Dhaka as finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal is sick.

The briefing started at 3:00pm.

Terming the national budget of 2019-20 the biggest-ever budget in Bangladesh's history, Sheikh Hasina said the target of the budget is to implement the election manifesto of her government.

She said the government also targets to create 30 million jobs in the country by 2030.

Laying emphasis on the education sector, Hasina said this sector will get the topmost priority in the next fiscal year.

She also said Bangladesh is on top in eliminating gender disparity in South Asian countries.
