Bangladesh, Georgia ‘agree to enhance co-op in agriculture, RMG sectors’

Bangladesh and Georgia on Sunday discussed the promotion of trade and investment between the two countries and ways to further strengthen the existing relations by expanding areas of cooperation for mutual benefits.

The two countries focused on pharmaceuticals, readymade garments (RMG), agricultural products and ceramics; and agreed to enhance cooperation in the agriculture sector.

The issues were discussed when Georgian ambassador to Bangladesh with residence in New Delhi Archil Dzuliashvili met foreign minister AK Abdul Momen at the latter’s office.

The Georgian envoy discussed with the foreign minister on various aspects on bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Georgia.

Abdul Momen expressed pleasure at the existing friendly relations and bilateral engagements between the two countries and stressed further strengthening the existing ties by expanding the areas of cooperation for mutual benefits of the two countries.

Apart from the bilateral issues, the two sides exchanged views on international issues of common interest, according to the foreign affairs ministry.

The elections in different International Organization of UN, including Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and International Organization for Migration (IMO) were also discussed.

The foreign minister briefed the Georgian envoy about the recent development of the Rohingya issue and sought support of the Georgian government in this regard.
