Chattogram mayor sees paying tax a moral responsibility

Chattogram City Corporation mayor AJM Nasir Uddin on Saturday said paying tax is a moral responsibility and part of patriotism, reports BSS.

“It is possible by the government to implement large development project by own fund like Padma bridge as people of the country pay taxes spontaneously,” Nasir said.

Nasir urged all particularly the business community to pay taxes properly for accelerating the country’s development.

The city mayor called upon officials to extend tax network through creating new taxpayers and ensuring a hassle-free tax realisation system so that people feel cheerfulness to pay all kinds of taxes properly.

The city mayor made this call while inaugurating Income Tax day at Agrabad, CGO building on the day.

Earlier, a rally led by city mayor brought out from income tax office Agrabad and the rally concluded at the same venue after parading different important city streets.

“The government introduced various motivational campaigns like upazila level tax camp, tax fair, survey and rewards for the best taxpayers to expand the tax network side by side with expanding one crore taxpayers from existing 3.8 million,” Nasir said.

Chattogram zonal four tax commissioner offices organised the function followed by a discussion to inspire the people in paying income taxes to enhance national uplift through increasing revenue collection.

Income Tax Day-2019 celebration committee convenor GM Abul Kalam Kaikobad presided over the function.
