Bank branches in Dhaka to remain open 27-28 Dec

All branches of scheduled banks under Dhaka north and south city corporations will remain open on 27-28 December so that candidates willing to contest the upcoming elections of two city corporations -- DSCC and DNCC -- can deposit money.

“Scheduled banks have been asked to keep their branches open under the DNCC and DSCC areas so that candidates can deposit money for submission of nomination papers,” said Bangladesh Bank in a circular on Thursday, reports BSS.

The elections to Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation will be held on 30 January, according to the election commission (EC).

The last date for submitting nomination papers is 31 December and the last date for withdrawal of candidacy is 9 January. The EC will scrutinise nomination papers on 2 January.
