Tirjak marks 100th show of 'Oedipus'

'Oedipus', the 2500-year-old Greek tragedy by Sophocles, still attracts people and has seen many stage adaptations in Bangladesh.

Friday (15 May) evening was a landmark for Chittagong-based theatre troupe Tirjak Natyadal as it staged the 100th show of its popular production, 'Oedipus' at Theatre Institute Chittagong auditorium in the port city.
"It is a milestone and proud moment for Tirjak as it is staging the 100th show of 'Oedipus'," educationist Dr Anupam Sen told the audience before the show.

Directed by Ahmed Iqbal Haider, Tirjak's version of 'Oedipus' includes Shaila Sharmin, Ramiz Ahmed, Sujit Chakraborty, Ripon Barua, Shyamal Barua, Amit Chakraborty, Jewel Chakma, Manik Mia, Laboni Biswas, Bandana Barna and Mafizur Rahman in different roles.
