Four Bangladeshi movies to be screened in Delhi film fest

The first edition of Indus Valley International Film Festival, the first travelling international film festival in South Asia, will begin at New Delhi on 1 August.

Organised by South Asia Forum for Art and Creative Heritage, the festival will aim to showcase films from South and South-East Asian nations.

A panel of judges have selected films for screening after receiving submissions from filmmakers and production houses across the region.

Bangladeshi distribution company CinemaKing has sent a few films to the festival and four among them were selected for screening at the festival.

CinemaKing head and Bangladeshi coordinator for the festival Monjurul Islam Megh said the juries have selected ‘Nolok’ directed by Sakib Sonet in the popular category as a commercial film, the government-funded film ‘Maya, the Lost Mother’ in feature film category, Mizanur Rahman Labu directed ‘Mala Bhabi’ in short films category and the documentary ‘Qasida of Dhaka’ directed by Anarya Murshid.

Monjurul said the event will be held online due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak worldwide.

A number of eminent filmmakers and artistes from Bangladesh will join the online discussion, said a press release sent by CinemaKing.

Bollywood film ‘Pataakha’ directed by Indian national award winning filmmaker Bishal Bhardwaj will open the festival while it will be wrapped up with the screening of ‘Manto’ made by Nandita Das.
