Actress Lina Ferdousi passes away

A familiar face in numerous TV dramas and films, Ferdousi Ahmed Lina breathed her last at the age of 63 around 12:00am on Saturday.

The actress had been suffering from kidney disease for a long time and was undergoing dialysis.

She was also an official of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. An official of the academy, Ireen Parvin Lopa, confirmed her death to Prothom Alo.

“Lina has been ill for long. We worked together for a long time in the academy. She was very friendly and amicable. We pray her departed soul rests in peace,” Ireen Parvin told Prothom Alo.

The small screen actors and actresses including Subarna Mustafa, Tarin, Tanveen Sweetie, Rownak Hassan and former colleagues of the Shilpakala Academy expressed their deep condolences at her demise.

Ferdousi Ahmed Lina started her career with a TV spot in 1975. In 1978, she made her first appearance in Tv drama 'Kalo Kokila'. Her first film was 'Rajalakshmi Shrikanta' directed by Bulbul Ahmed. In this film she played the role of Abhaya. Her last film was 'Debdas' directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam. She played the mother of the protagonist Shakib Khan.

Ferdousi Ahmed Lina has also worked in several TV dramas including some popular plays like 'Gulshan Avenue', drama series 'Ghatak Pakhi Bhai', 'Nandini' and so on.
