''Do you believe in luck?''
''Not just in luck, I do believe in hard work too. It's hard work that controls luck,'' said Jaya Ahsan in reply to a Prothom Alo question.

It does not matter Jaya believes in luck or not; year 2017 has been a huge success for the actress, popular both in Bangladesh and India.

Beginning her Indian film career in 2013, Jaya has already carved a niche for herself in Tollywood.

She started 2017 with 'Sera Bangali' award in July by India's Bangla newspaper Anandabazar and ended the year with the best actress accolade at the Zee Cine Awards for Indian-Bangla film, 'Bishorjan'.

Jaya received many other awards throughout the year including Best Actress at the International Bengali Film Award (IBFA) and the same award in Kaleidoscope Film Festival both held in USA.

Jaya's 'Bishorjon' also won the 'Best Bengali Film' award in the 64th edition of India’s National Film Awards in April.
She received standing ovation for her role, 'Padma' when 'Bishorjan' was screened at the 48th International Film Festival of India held in Goa.

In Bangladesh, she received national award this year for 2015's film 'Zero Degree' directed by Animesh Aich.
Jaya's Indian Bangla films including Indranil Roy Chowdhury's 'Bhalobashar Shohor', Kaushik Ganguly's 'Bishorjan', Arindam Sil's 'Aborto', Ekti Bangali Bhooter Goppo', 'Eagoler Chokh' and 'Rajkahini' cemented her in Kolkata film industry.
Asked about all her awards and international recognitions in 2017, Jaya said, "I have been doing my work. Never thought of recognition. I feel great when I hear the name of Bangladesh with my name".
